NAME

vos_listfs - Displays all file servers registered with the location service

SYNOPSIS

vos listfs [-uuid <uuid of server>] [-host <address of host>] [-cell <cell name>] [-noauth] [-auth] [-localauth] [-encrypt [<yes|no>]] [-verbose] [-noresolve] [-config <configuration file>] [-help]

DESCRIPTION

The vos listfs command displays all of the File Servers registered with the Location Service including their universally unique identifier (UUID) and network hostnames or IP addresses.

Each time the File Server starts, it builds a list of interfaces on the local machine by reading the /etc/yfs/server/yfs-server.conf file's [fileserver] netinfo configuration, if it exists. If there is no netinfo configuration, the File Server uses the list of network interfaces reported by the operating system. The File Server then removes from the list any addresses that appear in the [fileserver] netrestrict configuration, if it exists. The File Server registers the resulting list of network interfaces with the Location Service.

OPTIONS

-host <address of host>

Rather than displaying all the server entries, display only server entries for the specified host. This will show all multihomed addresses registered with the Location Service by that File Server.

-uuid <uuid of server>

Rather than displaying all the server entries, display only server entries for the File Server with the specified UUID. This will show all multihomed addresses registered with the Location Service by that File Server and also allows mapping a File Server UUID to its address.

-cell <cell name>

Names the cell in which to run the command. Do not combine this argument with the -localauth flag. For more details, see vos(1).

-noauth

Assigns the unprivileged identity anonymous to the issuer. Do not combine this flag with the -localauth flag. For more details, see vos(1).

-localauth

Obtains an authentication token using the server encryption key with the highest key version number in the local /etc/yfs/server/KeyFileExt file. The resulting token never expires and has Super User privileges. Do not combine this flag with the -cell argument or -noauth flag. For more details, see vos(1).

-auth

Use the calling user's tokens from the kernel or as obtained using the active Kerberos ticket granting ticket to communicate with the Volume Server and Location Service. This is the default if neither -localauth nor -noauth is given.

Since this option is the default, it is usually not useful for running single command line operations. However, it can be useful when running commands via vos_interactive(1) or vos_source(1), since otherwise it would be impossible to switch from, for example, -localauth back to using regular tokens during a bulk operation.

-verbose

Produces on the standard output stream a detailed trace of the command's execution. If this argument is omitted, only warnings and error messages appear.

-encrypt [<yes|no>]

Enables or disables encrytion for the command so that the operation's results are not transmitted across the network in clear text.

-noresolve

Shows all servers as IP addresses instead of the reverse DNS lookup hostname. -noresolve useful when troubleshooting no such volume and volume moved errors.

-config <configuration file>

Set the location of the configuration file to be used. The default file is /etc/yfs/yfs-client.conf.

-help

Prints the online help for this command. All other valid options are ignored.

OUTPUT

The output displays File Servers registered with the Location Service. Each File Server's UUID will be printed followed by each registered address on its own line. If a File Server is multihomed, all of its registered addresses will be displayed on their own line. The first address is the one reported as a volume's site in the output from the vos_examine(1) and vos_listloc(1) commands.

The Location Service returns the registered addresses. If the -noresolve option is not specified the vos(1) command interpreter has the local name service translate them to hostnames before displaying them. If an IP address appears in the output, the name translation failed.

The vos listfs command reports all File Servers that are registered. When a File Server is decommissioned, a cell administrator should remove the File Server registration by issuing the vos_removefs(1) command.

EXAMPLES

The following command displays the registered File Servers for host sv5.your-cell-name.com in the your-cell-name.com cell:

   % vos listfs -host sv5.your-cell-name.com
   UUID: 000c5aff-8246-1699-96-c4-437b5a45aa77
   sv5.your-cell-name.com
